OTD 1963: In a move that he would later publicly call his "greatest regret as commissioner", Pete Rozelle calls for all NFL games to be played two days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Per esteemed sportswriter Jerry Izenberg, however, Rozelle would later tell Joe Browne (later the NFL's PR chief) that he in fact "still believed [playing the games] was the right thing to do."

Obviously, Rozelle had been conflicted about his decision over the years.
• Though played, no NFL games were televised OTD in 1963; CBS News locked in with full coverage from Dallas, Washington and NY
• Some college games were played that weekend, others were postponed or cancelled
• All AFL games postponed Joe Foss, Milt Woodard, and Jack Horrigan
