I stand by the idea that going viral is mostly a curse, especially while portraying a personality or interests that are inauthentic or only display a tiny fraction of who you truly are.
Creators are forced by algorithms and their new audience to feed into that thing that made them go viral, and if it isn’t authentic to their interests, they get stuck chasing after extreme iterations of that one thing that people loved—making them a caricature.
We saw this with pranks; as people got bored with the genre, the pranks became more and more extreme to grab audience attention to the point where they were absolutely ridiculous, and there was nowhere left to go.
