[ my analysis on the importance of daisuke& #39;s opening piano shot ]
imo, the cinematography on this scene is brilliant because it& #39;s able to tell the viewers what they need to know about daisuke& #39;s characterization without having to employ explicitly-telling dialogues. (+)

beforehand, it needs to be understood that what we see on the screen doesn& #39;t always actually happen.
the surreal-quality of this shot alone; all-white room, dreamlike lighting, and daisuke being portrayed as a faceless figure is one of that.

daisuke& #39;s character sheet never mentions of him being into music as hobby. unlike haru and his "cooking + judo", daisuke& #39;s fancy is "cigars + boxing" which are apparent on the anime β "playing instrument" goes unmentioned, and it made me think daisuke doesn& #39;t really play.
of course, it& #39;s fine if you wanna think he does. love the idea, too. it& #39;s not much important anyways. what& #39;s important is knowing what is him playing the piano to no audience represent.
so, music has always been known as one of the medias to express unspoken feelings β

hence, daisuke playing mellow melody(*) on piano to no audience has meaning:
he& #39;s trying to tell others that he& #39;s sad (about what? his narration: "i had parents and happy childhood", is the subject of his sadness) but there& #39;s no one to listen to him expressing his feelings.
he& #39;s trying to tell others that he& #39;s sad (about what? his narration: "i had parents and happy childhood", is the subject of his sadness) but there& #39;s no one to listen to him expressing his feelings.
then the camera shifts away from him.
he& #39;s still playing the piano, but the sound gradually disappears as he& #39;s getting farther β this alludes to how, as more time passes by, he& #39;s getting more distant, until he stopped trying to make others hear him despite still being in pain.

the final frame makes it seem like daisuke is stuck inside a glass case; he& #39;s inside, separated from others by glass barrier, playing away his sadness.
however, because it& #39;s glass, it& #39;s easily breakable β this means: he still wishes for someone to break in and save him.

and obviously, the next thing that& #39;s being shown is haru, in contrastingly vivid, warm colours and upbeat music: someone who will free daisuke from his "glass case" and solitude. fkbu isn& #39;t BL anime, but should it be? /j (who the fuck even cares

(*) melody that daisuke plays is called "γγζ₯γε’γ«γγγΉγ¦γε€γγ£γ¦γγΎγ£γ" on fkbu OST, and this track is being played again during this scene.
this is the scene where daisuke LITERALLY invited haru inside. his house. a lot of thoughts, honestly.

it& #39;s totally chill if you disagree with this analysis because i& #39;m just doing this for a hehe and this is purely my speculation of what message i assume the animators wanted to convey with their cinematography techniques. also, this opening scene is beautiful, i love it a lot
