History needs to be reintroduced in our education system, the next generation needs to know the truth, the truth that men like Gowon, Awolowo, Azikwe, Tafawa balewa e.t.c aren't saints.
It needs to be know that the problem didn't start 1999, it didn't start from PDP and APC https://twitter.com/i_am_pharouq/status/1330972881371738115
It didn't start by milliary rule in fact it caused milliary rule, these men our history paints in good light aren't who we were taught they were, take for example the letter sent by Obasanjo after the lekki toll gate massacre, a letter that puts him in good light, and was already
Creating a history that makes OBJ a hero, but for the good citizens of twitter to remind everyone of the Odi massacre that happened under his administration in November 1999, now how many 20 something year olds remember or even know this happened, and that's just how it happens
People forget when there's no one to remember.
Nnamdi Azikiwe was investigated in 1956 by the Foster-Sutton tribunal for his atrocities with the African continental bank (ACB), as a holder of public office, he didn't severe connections with the bank, he his family and company
Took loans from the bank at low interest and didn't repay the loans for years, the bank was distressed and wasn't granted license by the new registrar of banks, partners couldn't be found for the bank because of the situation they were in, the colonial government didn't prosecute
Because they liked the idea of NCNC an party they thought fostered national unity and would crumble without Azikiwe.

Obafemi Awolowo was found guilty of corruption by the coker commission in 1962
In 1954 the western regional marketing board was rich, had 6.5 million
In it's coffers and by 1962 Awolowo had run it to ground and it was living on over drafts.

Tafawa balewa by 1965 was superintending looting of the treasury on an industrial scale, his ministers were living like kings, he was comfortable with corruption
And all these were no secrets, by 1965, Chinua Achebe has already branded our politics a huge joke, in his book "A man of the people" , he maintained that the political thought of Awolowo and Azikiwe of of politics for material gain so their activities were no secret.
But Nigerians are politically apathetic, tolerant and understanding in the face of corruption couples with the fact that this men are held as heroes by their various ethnic groups, the truth has faded into the background.
It needs to see the light of day.
