I'm getting deeply uncomfortable with the blatant homophobia that the fellow queer community likes to call "jokes" these days. It's important for young people to know that gallows humor is not just "bigotry, but when /I/ say it".
This goes especially for when it's bigotry toward a group that one is not immediately identifiable as being a part of, like the queer community.
It's odd enough as it is that gen Z has apparently convinced itself that homophobia is funny, but if this thought process catches on to the mainstream, it's only going to make real, actual, dangerous homophobes braver. And yeah, they still exist. Trust me.
It also just comes off as incredibly childish that the peak of humor is to apparently point and laugh at people, even those like yourself, and say "ew, gross"? Not to sound like an old fogey, but have a bit more finesse to your humor.
