If you're a scientist posting or writing about science that isn't your area of expertise it's important to check in with an expert in that field that what you are saying is correct
There's a lot of pressure for those of us with bigger followings to use our platforms to raise specific topics. I personally try and avoid it and instead boost people that know what they're talking about.
If that means people judge me for not using my platform to speak about certain things then so be it. I'm a scientist first + foremost and that means prioritising getting my facts straight, and making sure I don't mislead people into thinking I have expertise outside zoology.
If anyone was looking for my take on coronavirus: I'm as confused and uncertain as the rest of you, other than about the fact vaccines are safe and effective.
