On @ParkBoard agenda tonight: staff presentation ‘Mobility in Stanley Park - survey results, data analysis & next steps’. Third-party analysis of our survey conducted by Qualitas Research for validation of results, ‘data cleaning’ (think duplicates IPs, inconsistencies...)
Of all responses to our survey, 187 entries were removed; 10,859 were included in analysis. 26% of respondents from Outside YVR; 29% from DT/WEnd; 45% from elsewhere in YVR. Best represented demographics in survey respondants: 60-69yo; less so 0-29yo.
68% of respondents who went to SP during closure to vehicles (early pandemic) considered their visit better than during regular times. Of those who considered their visit worse, the main reason was: too many speeding cyclists.
For period of June 22nd to Sept 25th (1 temp cycle lane/1 vehicular lane): 10% more respondents visited the park than during no-vehicle period. 47% said their experience was better w this separated bike lane; 31% said it was worse (main reason: cannot ride on SeaWall).
25% of respondents felt they depended on a vehicle to enjoy the park (fun fact: one of our surveys from 1981 - 1981!!- survey said the exact same!)
Busiest day for traffic thru SP: Sunday August 16th with 6,190 vehicles. Overall parking occupancy never reached capacity this summer: max capacity was 73% (however, busiest lots did reach full capacity on certain days).
And so much more. Quite impressed by this data collecting/crunching exercise. Next step? May 2021 for in-depth analysis of this all.
