30 years ago I moved away from the state where my extended family lives. I have an enormous extended family, and Thanksgivings were awesome. I have rarely gotten to enjoy one with them since then because of not enough time to travel. And you know what? I still get to celebrate!

If you're feeling sorry for yourself for missing ONE Thanksgiving with extended family, I don't have a lot of pity for you. How are YOU going to celebrate? You get to make your own new traditions!

I've missed a LOT more than one Thanksgiving with my extended family. This will be my first Thanksgiving all by myself. And it's going to be an awesome day of solitude and reading and reflection and skyping and -- Thanksgiving!
