we are live-tweeting the @cityofeugene city council meeting! should be fun..?
ooh they are letting us use the video setting for the first time since the beginning of covid..
Councilor Syrett is giving the update on her meeting with a bunch of NIMBYs who have been complaining about houseless camps.

"There is a trauma to the housed residents who are so near... they can't ignore it and are seeing disturbing things"

wow is she really saying this???
Council showing @cahoots_wbc some love. "there are a number of cities around the country trying to copy us in a number of ways... they see cahoots as a solution to issues that they are facing with militarized policing"

đŸ„°we approve of this messageđŸ„°

Defund EPD - fund Cahoots
apparently Eugene needs more ambulances... but for some reason we spend a massive amount of our budget on military equipment for cops
BREAKING - just found out that while City Manager Sarah Medary has said that she is having internet troubles, she has allegedly been the target of a car caravan protesting the sweeps of houseless camps. lol
Sunrise Eugene member on the mic demanding climate justice and a moratorium on new fracked gas infrastructure in Eugene. you love to see it folks.
@350Eugene is next - I wonder what they will be testifying about? 🧐
RHYMING TESTIMONY!!! holy cow next level friends
"scientists say we have a 50% chance... so think about that as you expand the burning of fracked gas"
"I'm grateful that this city hasn't burnt down yet due to the worsening climate crisis."

How did we let it come to this..
oooh @dnnynnn up to bat - climate policy and legislative affairs manager with @BeyondToxics talking about... you guessed it... fracked gas infrastructure in the @cityofeugene
"communities of color and low income households are more likely to be exposed to the pollutants released into the air when fossil fuels are combusted... it doesn't make sense from an equity perspective, a justice perspective, or a public health perspective"
strong back to back testimonies for a moratorium on new fossil fuel infrastructure! now back to houseless folks and resources to support them.
to the guy currently providing testimony: the @cityofeugene can and should be providing funding for residents to transition away from fracked gas, and to increase the efficiency of their homes. And yes we absolutely should be paying for more services for the houseless community.
wrapping up now - thanked us for public testimony and said that they have been having thin turn out. Another reference to Medary's bad connection - which we think is actually due to the fact that dozens of comrades were protesting her role in the sweeps of houseless folk in town.
Councilor Clark is now talking about an EWEB study that is being conducted to find the cost associated with electrification and renewable energy.
Medary made a brief come back and it's a wrap.

We'll leave you with this: creating a better future will take dedication, solidarity, and above all imagination.
