today i spoke w a colleague who met this morning w a city councillor & representatives from a bunch of City departments: including Parks, fire department, police, Streets to Homes & the City manager.

Their current plan: mass evictions of encampments across the whole city. [1/3]

It is appalling that even though we KNOW there are not enough spots for the 1000+ people homeless outside, their goal is still to displace them all. Where to? Who knows.
That they plan to use violence, bring cops & threaten arrest (we have seen this happen). [2/3]

It is appalling that a City “encampment table” meets regularly. Yet NO ONE who works w encampments, NOR ACTUAL RESIDENTS, have been invited to the conversation. I literally just heard abt this table today & we are months into the pandemic. This must change. @cityoftoronto [3/3]
