There's gonna be more examples in the comments, but MY NEW GEAR CAME IN :D
So it's a 2x anamorphic lens. It mounts to the front of an 85mm or higher lens. It squishes your shot down from the sides to give you ultra wide angle without cropping. Make sure to open the images! 1/4
So these two images kinda show how it works. The first image was taken on a tripod with the anamorphic lens attached to my 85mm, the second is the exact same shot, with the same 85, but without the anamorphic lens. It squishes everything in from the side. 2/4
So this is what the image looks like in camera. The entire image is squished, and then you unsquish it in photoshop by 200%. So it fits a super wide image on a 35mm sensor! 3/4
(again, make sure to open the image, not just look at the preview)
But it results in some suppeerrr cinema style shots. They're gonna be soft until my adapter comes in, but holding the lens in front of the camera gives a close enough idea!
SO YEAH I will happily geek out on this stuff to anyone that wants to talk about it in dms. This was so much to learn about after watching a @_trago video. I knew 0 about what these lenses were, then I spent 2 weeks researching and now I wanna talk with anyone that will listen
