wide awake at 3 am, thinking about twitter discourse bc i saw someone say that people that ain't trans should not be allowed to write trans characters.
first and foremost bold of anyone to assume they can tell anyone what to do
the issues that would require such gatekeeping are inherently based in lack of respect from either or both parties so i think it's a moot point to flex like that.
second of all, i am of opinion that making identity or orientation into some exclusive clubs is inherently harmful to any efforts to educate people about, well, anything that pertains to the aforementioned.
you don't want cis people to not write trans people you want uninformed people to stop being biased, misinformed and judgemental about what is important to you. two terrible things to assume: A) that dialogue is not an option. B) that your stance does not require self examination
returning to this thread, what about people who identify as cis at that point (by y'know, upbringing default) but have that itch to need to explore what gender even means to them because the norm doesn't feel quite right?
