I guess this really depends on your reference point - TBF, the word "coup" implies countries with inherently fragile democracies. Don't think the US looks so great compared to stable democracies. https://twitter.com/shadihamid/status/1331026498409607174
One way to look at what just happened is "the system worked": a would-be authoritarian took his best shot, which resulted in a few longshot court cases that went nowhere. And by all means we should be happy about that! But...
We saw the President of the Untied States:
*push legislators to ignore the electoral outcome
*attempt to toss huge numbers of votes
*create deep distrust in democracy for his supporters
*call for the resignation even of co-partisans seeking to honestly do their job

Not great!
Again, Trump failed. Hurray!
But:
*this might have worked if it was actually a close election and the effort was competently executed
*most of the Republican Party went along with it, failed to speak up for democracy
*this stuff does not have an on-off switch, it won't disappear
Certainly understand if people object to words like "coup" or "fascism."
But what we are living through is a degradation of the world's oldest constitutional democracy. It is very much ok to be alarmed and to respond with some urgency.
