Remember too that we deal with the worst people society has to offer, as well as good people on their worst days.

Don& #39;t make the mistake of thinking everyone is like the people we spend all our time with. That mindset will eat through your soul like acid.

Take pride. Not everyone could do what you do.

Take it seriously. But take every laugh it gives you.

Don& #39;t embarrass the uniform. People have died for it.

The way you treat someone directly affects the way they& #39;ll react to the next cop they deal with.

Whether that means you have to take a deep breath and be nice, or take a deep breath and slam someone into the pavement, don& #39;t let the next cop down.

However frightened, angry, sad, frustrated, despairing, nauseous etc. it makes you, do what needs to be done.
