After this morning's illegal Council Work Session, it sounds like the 4:30 PM Regular Council Meeting is still on, and starting NOW

Here's what's going to be on the agenda:
First up, Consent Agenda, and a softball. Mayor Cownie is recommending reappointment of a fan of his to the Water Works Board of Trustees for the 2020-2027 Term
Also on Consent, A life insurance company applied for an IEDA grant in 2018 agreeing they would create 65 jobs, 54 of which would pay $27.92/hr, and retain these jobs for two years.

They are now asking a 1 year extension on both counts due to the pandemic 1/
Meanwhile, the company intends to spend $4.5 million on "tenant improvements" at Davis Brown Tower, and $2 million in furniture and fixtures.

They also currently employ 904 people nationally, and 200 people in DSM at an average wage of $47.82/hr
This item on Consent is the Neighborhood Commercial Revitalization project, one of the items supposed to be discussed at the morning Work Session

We found this item controversial, for many reasons. Most of all, we see it as another arm of the city's gentrification efforts
Still consent: In September, Council approved a contract with Tyler Industries for ~$1 millon. Here they are just finalizing terms of a contract.

From here on out, the City Manager has complete control over terms of the contract, as long as the financial amount does not change.
Today was a long, full day. We want to let y'all know what our Council voted yes on, but it's time to rest. This thread will resume tomorrow.
