Bit odd seeing white feminists & LGBTQ ppl boost Divest rhetoric on here in the name of "listening to Black women", without bothering to check if these ppl support white patriarchy (they often do) & promote politics that hurt GNC Black women & trans ppl (they also do).
Just like any other group, the exp's of Black women aren't linear. The same issue of misogyny being narrated primarily from the POV of non-LGBTQ women also exists in the Black community, & has the effect of invisibilising Black lesbians, bi women & trans ppl & allows prejudice-
against these groups to slip into the discussions surrounding our plight or exp's.
It doesn't take a genius to see that their politics are heavily centred on heterosexuality, desirability, respectability & gender roles (not in a refutational manner, but in an affirming manner) & how that may harm BW who are not "desirable", feminine, hetero or cis.
And it follows naturally that when tweets from that side of Twitter have popped up on my TL (& they don't even show here that often lol) it was usually bc they were mocking Black lesbians & other GNC Black women's appearances & making an eg. out of them;
that women who think cishet-centred, gender-norm enforcing politics are harmful are all ugly, masculine, 'queer'/ 'queer-looking' women anyway who are projecting their undesirability & bitterness abt eurocentric society rejecting them unto the feminine, petite BW.
(Nevermind that many other BW were also criticising the regressive ways in which they address misogynoir, they singled out the "odd" dyke-looking or GNC ones in particular to put under a spotlight)
It's not that the concept of divestment is bad; historically BW have been pressured to put race above all else to the detriment of themselves. BW ought to be loyal to their community, esp. in the form of protecting BM while still being battered & exp'ing SA at high rates.
"Divest" refers to BW ceasing to invest themselves in BM or Blackness insofar as it harms them as BW; bc the treatment of BW as disposable in the name of community is violently anti-Black, funny enough.
But like most mvmts ppl aren't united by just a sole principle, but also dvlp a set of beliefs & praxis that they believe will lead them to a goal.

Divesting from BM is a valid goal, but the beliefs & practices used to fulfill it are actively antagonistic to Black LGBTQ ppl.
This is not to say that all of them hold x values & practices but it's prevalent enough that it can be considered to be a feature of their mvmt.

And that's why (in my view) the mvmt is conservative/regressive at its roots w/ a feminist overlay.
It's almost comical to me that white ppl not just completely bypass the voices of the most vulnerable Black ppl in discussions of misogynoir, but give bigoted politics influenced by white supremacy a boost in spite of it's repercussions for more vulnerable Black ppl, so as to-
give the impression of being good allies.
Ie, bioessentialism (advocating for being seen as weak & fragile bc you have a vagina), respectability politics that lead to more rigid, oppressive standards of femininity for BW (when BW are already judged the harshest), & gender roles are good for BW bc a cis/hetero person who-
happens to also be Black said so. Lol.
