Michigan's Board of State Canvassers has certified the state's Nov. 3 election in a 3-0 vote, with 1 Republican abstaining.

Voting advocates who worked hard to mobilize Black voters, especially in Detroit, tell me they are relieved but will remain vigilant for future elections.
They said this can't be lost: The fact the election results-- with a focus on Detroit/Wayne County-- were even in danger of being certified is cause for alarm, undermines democracy and is an outright form of voter suppression & attempt to delegitimize Black votes in this country.
Just going to remind folks again: Black folks have only been federally guaranteed the right to vote for 55 years.

Fifty-five. Years.
This is being framed as a victory for Biden and a blow to Trump. We really need frame it specifically through the lens of the attempted disenfranchisement of Black voters.
