i wanted to take the time to read the brilliant report that @Noah_Halpin put together before talking about it and i hope anybody who comes across this thread does the same because it is really informative about the situation regarding transgender healthcare in ireland at present

as somebody who unfortunately hasn’t even been able to even start this process due to several circumstances, it’s really disheartening to see the rapid decline of the transgender healthcare service in ireland due to what i could only describe as negligence

i think one of the most worrying trends is the fact that the waiting list to access transgender healthcare went from 15 months in november 2019 to over 3 years in february 2020 - that’s an approximate 140% increase in 3 months, with no explanation. how is this acceptable?

there also seems to be an impending breakdown in communication between the hse and the uk which is crucial in providing healthcare to transgender children and adolescents, not to mention the 120 referrals to the transgender healthcare service that went missing with no explanation

however, it is also important to separate the two ministers involved in trying to get this crucial report made by the national transgender healthcare steering committee through to the Dáil

where simon harris established the committee and asked them to create the report and submit it, stephen donnelly has been less than receptive to the report, and for all intensive purposes, seems to have even lost the report or not seen it in the first place

this behaviour cannot be accepted and @DonnellyStephen needs to be held accountable to not only locate the report, but to open communication with the National Transgender Healthcare Steering Community again and implement all findings from the report

but, i want to finish this thread on a positive note, so i want to take this opportunity to thank each member of the National Transgender Healthcare Steering Committee, in particular @Noah_Halpin, for all of their continued hard work on behalf of all transgender people in ireland

i really hope i have all my information correct, i tried to keep it as correct as i possibly could but i’m also going to retweet noah’s original thread after this so make sure to read his as well as he is a crucial member of the committee as the ministerial representative!
