Some thoughts about Hurts/Wentz:
Personally, I loved the Hurts draft pick: Yes there were a lot of talented players still on the board. But investing in a back up QB is one of the most important things for a franchise. Eagles fans should know this better than anyone(s/o BDN)

Look at the Saints both ā19 & today, Brees goes down but theyāve invested in backups at the position: Teddy, Taysom, Jameis. Having a suitable backup QB has kept them in the hunt both last year & this year regardless who is the QB

Pittsburgh was a completely different team last year w/o Big Ben, and w/o a suitable backup QB. Now Ben is back and they are undefeated.
Patriots every single year, regardless of having Brady, invest in back up QBs (Jimmy, Brissett,etc.)

Iāve been a fan of Wentz and Iāve defended him...a lot. There are some things he does, that very few QBs could do. There have also been so many injuries to this team, making it tough to evaluate. But these past 2 weeks have been rough. Canāt make excuses for Wentz at the moment
Making the QB change is tricky though...midseason, still in the playoff hunt (lol), Carson contract (yikes), but I think we can all see the Eagles need a spark & his play is currently hurting the team. As a fan Iād like to see what Hurts has, but I also understand itās not easy
But this brings me back to my initial point...Eagles received so much backlash & criticism for the Hurts pick. I know it was high, and I know it was a surprise. Although I was happy, Iāll admit I too was very surprised. Weāre now in a position where our āfranchise QBā looks bad
And as an Eagles fan Iāll say Iām thankful my team was smart enough & forward thinking enough to make an investment in a back up QB, the most important position on the field, so we are even able to have this discussion of replacing Carson with someone weāre excited about/future
I donāt think we see the change this week, probably not next week either, but for all the laughter on Draft Day, Iām thankful we at least have the option to make a change. Iāll be very excited for Hurts when we see him and Iāll continue to be optimistic for Carson if we donāt..
