In @DNAcademy, we’re registrar agnostic -- use who you like. Aside from a special promo that @Uniregistry graciously gives DNA members, we haven't promoted any registrar. Uni is great, but I’ve heard great things about @Dynadot. This thread will review their service. 1/n
🚨 Note: this is an editorial-driven thread, for the education of me (Michael Cyger) and our followers on Twitter. It is not a paid promotion and Dynadot doesn't know about it. This thread will be updated as I continue to use the Dynadot service. 2/n
First off, I wanted a registrar that is partnered w both @Afternic (Premium Network for greater exposure & Fast Transfer) and @Sedo (so we don't have to do their time consuming owner verification process). @DVDJKingpin narrowed, & I eliminated those often complained about. 3/n
Turns out I had one domain name at Dynadot, and --upon review -- the interface looked good. I then transferred two domain names into Dynadot and the process was smooth and clear to understand. Easy and quick transfers in. 4/n
💰 I'm not a large-portfolio owner and am relatively price insensitive, but Dynadot's pricing is 👍. I prepaid $500 & my .com pricing went from "regular" $8.99 to "bulk" $8.75. Their "super bulk" at $5,000 is $8.50. (Note: I pay $9.23 @ GoDaddy w tax & $8.67 @ Uniregistry.) 5/n
Aside from .com domain names, I also like .io domain names for which I pay $35.99 at GoDaddy. They're $28.75 at Dynadot. Full price list: https://www.dynadot.com/domain/tlds.html 6/n
When my domain names transferred into Dynadot, I updated the DNS and forwarded them both to a page on one of my websites. It all updated quickly and easily. The process was well communicated I was updated throughout. 7/n
Dynadot has clear procedures on setting-up domains for sale on Afternic and Sedo:
https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/set-up-afternic
https://www.dynadot.com/community/help/question/set-up-sedoMLS

In both cases, "Domains registered or transferred in the last 60 days will not qualify." I know it's for security, but it's a long time to wait. 8/n
👮‍♀️ Speaking of security, DTVS is why I love GoDaddy so much. My domains can't leave my account until a rep calls me on the phone for verification. Sometimes that's good (for my high value domain names), and other times it's inconvenient. But I appreciate the option. 9/n
🔐 Dynadot offers more security options. 2FA standard either by SMS text or Google Authenticator. 👍 You can opt to authenticate "Every Login (Most Secure)" or "Every New IP Address". And a secure question to change account info or update or unlock domains. 10/n
🕵🏽Privacy is free, and you can set the default privacy level used for future domains you register or transfer to Dynadot. Domains already in your account are not affected and have to be manually updated. 11/n
⛑ Help is via chat, email or telephone Mon-Sun, 9am-6pm PST. I opted for chat, and they picked up immediately and competently answered my questions. 12/n
So those were my big five needs:
1. Afternic & Sedo fast transfer partners
2. Security of my domain name assets
3. Competitive pricing without asking for favors
4. Automated systems that work without error
5. Clear communication in their systems and support

So far so good. 13/n
I'll update this thread as I continue to use their system. Ask me any questions you have and I'll try to work those questions into my trial for you. To be continued... 14/n
