This is why I wish Dr. Mohler would have remained consistent and that "Never. Ever. Period." meant that. Because I agree with him: "at least recognize we are called to consistency and blatant inconsistency undermines moral credibility". Sadly, it was traded for a pot of stew. https://twitter.com/albertmohler/status/1330893378389729281">https://twitter.com/albertmoh...
I don& #39;t know if I can fittingly express the blow that this was for me personally. I was grateful for Dr. Mohler& #39;s reasoned stance in 2016. He showed a conviction to lead....even against his own dear party. 1/
It communicated to me that he really did believe that gospel fidelity, morality, etc. was more important than power, comfort, and even freedoms. 2/
In my mind, Dr. Mohler was in a great position to lead my generation and the next generation. He modeled biblical fidelity and consistency of principle. This is what will be needed in days ahead. 3/
But then....and maybe it& #39;s just that my mind is too feeble to untangle all the smart people knots...he cut the legs out from every single one of these things. 4/
"I will only apologize to Bill Clinton for having said something so stupid..." communicated to me, "Situations have changed. So did my ethics. And I will dig in instead of confess my inconsistency." 5/
Perhaps it shouldn& #39;t have communicated so much. But for me it caused me to wonder if maybe so much of this has been about protection of a way of life. Maybe the gospel isn& #39;t/wasn& #39;t the governing narrative. 6/
