My experience with Iron Neck (I have the Pro)
So far, I’ve had this bad boy for about 3 weeks. And I LOVE IT!
It’s too early to talk about hypertrophy (muscle growth in neck area) but I’ll be happy to provide some thoughts and why I love it.
(Be Warned: Aff Link at End)

Before I do though, here’s why I think using it is important:
In my experience, I’ve had a couple of injuries in students that have led to the inability to continue training. Both were bulges of the discs in the cervical spine.

The thing is, attacking the neck is common in Jiu-jitsu and wrestling.
One can always use “heavy hands” to break down the posture of a standing opponent.
Further in Jiu-jitsu, headlocks and guillotine chokes can put an INSANE amt of pressure and stress on the cervical spine

Both students I’ve had quit due to these injuries were actually from guillotine chokes
Neck injuries are fairly common because the neck is relatively weak and NO ONE is training neck.

In the past, I’ve trained my neck by doing chin tucks as well as some elevated rotation of the head while laying down.
Wrestling bridges are excellent too but I usually don’t advise if your neck is still “developing” (read: weak)

You can also use a physioball to train the muscles of your neck but this can be a little more awkward.
Now, why I love the Iron Neck
At first, it was a little awkward. I couldn’t figure out why but then realized it was because I kept starting at the hook latched onto the door

This added some weird friction which was quickly alleviated when I just kept my head parallel.
As far as the training: It adds a super dynamic element to it.
You can train the anterior muscles of your neck by facing away from it (similar to laying on ground/elevating head)

You can also train your traps and smaller posterior muscles of the neck (which is much harder to do without lifting weights) by facing towards
Further, unlike laying on ground/elevating your head, you can actually move whole body rotationally, up/down/etc keeping body stable

You can move any way you’d like and still train the muscles in your neck. This includes but is not limited to rotations, figure 8s, etc. You can even do squats and other exercises/drills with it.
Next up, what I love is the convenience.

I get to the school, I hook it up onto the door and I exercise my neck for about 10 minutes , every other day or so.
There are a few exercises I do sporadically throughout the day (calf raises and tib raises included) and this is one of them.

Because it’s easy to use, it’s never a pain to just strap the headset on and start moving.
One cool thing I’ve noticed while using it is depending on the amount of pressure (start LIGHT!), you can feel it tensing up your lower spine meaning that while training your neck,

the muscles of your entire spine are also stabilizing which has to have some more benefits that I’m simply uneducated enough to be aware of.
What I’ve noticed after: My head feels more “free”. It;’s hard to describe but I feel like I have a bit more range of motion.

Conclusion: I love this thing. The 5 major benefits are
1.Ease of use (after figuring it out)
2.Ability to tackle the “harder to reach” muscles of the neck
3.Dynamic aspect of use
4.Spine stabilization effects
And probably most importantly
5.The Assumed Injury prevention

The only “con” I can think of is that the price tag is hefty but tbh, I think this thing is worth its weight in GOLD.
Fantastic investment in your health for the the above benefits but further, can use this tool for quite a long time.

@TheIronNeck was kind enough to send me one and get my thoughts so if you could show me (and them some love), use this link.
Otherwise, head on over to google and check it out!
