I started Hellosaurus last year to reimagine what screen time could be for kids.

A quick thread on what motivates us
2/ While screens can be effective tools to both educate and entertain, too often parents are left feeling guilty about what they are handing over and kids are left simply staring at a device.
3/ Our mission is even more pressing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which mobile device screen time for kids has increased by over 150%, with some studies reporting increases as high as 500%.
4/ At @playhellosaurus, we’ve built an interactive video platform for kids filled with episodes they can actually play instead of just watch.
5/ Top kids media creators and YouTube stars like @mothergooseclub, @kidzbop, @marlinramseychan, @cosmickidsyoga, @laurieberknerband, @bouncepatrol, @onyxfamily, and more are already using our software toolkit to move beyond passive video into immersive, interactive content.
6/ Our work at HQ Trivia demonstrated that mobile devices have the capabilities to bring the viewer into the show like never before. Many of us grew up on shows like Sesame Street and Blue’s Clues, which have long tried to create a level of audience participation.
7/ Hellosaurus has finally made this interaction a reality. We are excited to be giving creators tools that allow them to pioneer an entirely new type of content format and open a new world of digital play for kids.
8/ Perhaps most importantly, new research continues to find this kind of active screen time to be meaningfully better for a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth than the passive video viewing found on all traditional platforms.
9/ So parents can feel great about handing over Hellosaurus to their kids when they need to hop on that call, cook dinner, or even sleep in an extra hour, and kids can continue to have a blast playing along.
