Today I’m announcing efforts to slow the spread of #COVID19 as cases reach critical levels.

They include a recommitment to school safety, protections for businesses and employees, reduced gatherings, enforcement for mask wearing, and an advisory encouraging PA'ians to stay home.
In December, projections show upwards of 22,000 new COVID cases per day in Pennsylvania. And we are projected to run out of ICU beds.

We must take action to protect our health care system from being compromised.
Pre-K to 12 public schools in counties with substantial transmission levels for two weeks must adhere to strict updated protocols

Schools that do not comply will be required to provide fully remote learning and suspend school sports and extracurricular activities.
We’re introducing liability protection for businesses that maintain in-person operations and are open to the public.

Businesses will receive immunity from civil liability when enforcing the statewide mask-wearing order.
The maximum occupancy for large gatherings and events has been reduced.

On Thanksgiving Eve (11/25), sales of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption at bars, restaurants, and private catered events, must end at 5 p.m. Dining may continue; takeout is encouraged.
Telework must continue unless impossible. We strongly advise that residents:

• Only leave home for work or school, or for essential needs
• Wear a mask when not at home
• Refrain from household gatherings with non-household members
• Avoid unnecessary travel in + outside PA
Law enforcement will be stepping up efforts to enforce this #COVID19 safety plan.

They will issue citations and fines, and possibly undertake regulatory actions for repeat offenders.
We are in a dangerous situation, and we need to work together to slow the spread of #COVID19 and save lives.

COVID is tough, but Pennsylvanians are tougher. Let’s get to work and flatten the curve.
