Thinking today about the GOP& #39;s response to the 3 great crisis of the 21st century.
9/11--let& #39;s go fight a war, invade citizens& #39; privacy, do some torture, and create a new federal agency
2008-9 financial crisis: meh. Let& #39;s cut taxes and regulations.
Covid: It& #39;s a hoax

I just got to the part in Obama& #39;s memoir where he describes the utter refusal of the GOP to do anything in response to the 2008-9 financial crisis. McCain had nothing. McConnell& #39;s like, "it& #39;s your problem. Hope you fail." Boehner& #39;s like, "Nothing I can do w/ my caucus."
The incredible alacrity with which the GOP was willing to invest the government with new powers and spend federal money in response to a terror attack in which 3000 people died, compared to >250K Covid deaths now is pretty arresting.
And think about all of the energy Rudy put into the 9/11 recovery effort and how he invested his entire being in that catastrophe...and how now, in the midst of another national catastrophe, he& #39;s beclowning himself with the dog and pony show of pro-Trump conspiracy theories.
