something i have been seeing recently is a lot of ppl being like "if all my fav spots in toronto close, what is the point of even living here, this place sucks etc" which, you know, is obviously a super shitty side effect of this pandemic and a line of thinking i am not immune to
but i have noticed that these thoughts seem to be shared most by ppl who moved here in their 20s, who have made toronto home in their adulthood, not from the ppl who were born and/or raised here
i think it's interesting that those of us who moved here, who used toronto as a place to grow as people, to become adults, to find and build community with people would be the first ppl to say "fuck this, I'm out"
a city and a community is so much more than a cool bar, a nice restaurant, art galleries, music venues, etc. those things exist off the back of ppl working and living together and trying to make things better
i'd like to think, if anything, this pandemic should keep reminding us what kind of city, what kind of community we want to live in, what is possible and how we build and sustain that.

anyways sorry for being genuine online, i promise i won't do it again lmao
also my final thought is that it's a bit disrespectful to the communities that have BEEN here and that built the toronto we all found so enticing and that accepted us so readily
