Sadly, the Ravens issues with WRs in the past was poor drafting.

Now, they don't throw to them. Ravens WRs are being targeted the third fewest of any WR corps in 2020 (14.8 trgs/gm).

A new, early round WR likely won't contribute immediately because of coaching and scheme. https://twitter.com/TheMattWise/status/1330915222337576960
It's incredibly difficult to find out what's wrong when you don't give a positional group an opportunity to perform.

You don't need to have great WRs to throw to them. Washington WRs are being targeted 25.1/gm (5th most).

Chicago WRs are being targeted 24.5/gm (6th most)
Jets WRs are being targeted 21.7/gm (10th most)

The Ravens are also tied with the Browns for being the most run-heavy team in the league, running on 52% of their plays.
In neutral game scripts (games within one score, removing final 2 mins of first half), the Ravens run a league high 54% of the time.

When trailing by 7+, the Ravens run 51% of the time. Once again, a league high.
The lack of targets Baltimore WRs receive, plus the staff's undying commitment to the run has created a perfect storm amongst fans, local media, etc., that better WRs in Baltimore is the answer.

I don't think the Ravens have great WRs. But we seldom get to see them do anything.
Another interesting stat, Lamar Jackson can't throw left. Or he doesn't. One or the other.

Take a look at his 2020 pass distributions from @RotoViz
For how this may compare to other QBs, Dak Prescott threw 86 passes to the left side of the field this season. He hasn't played six Week 5. Even Cam Newton has thrown to the left side of the field 101 times this season (and has been at his best when throwing from that side).
Alex Smith has played in four games this season and has thrown to the left side of the field 41 times, only 18 fewer than Lamar.

There's a lot to look at here. The Ravens WR issues are a peculiar one. The group needs improvement, no doubt. But there's much more at play here.
