This thread is stunning, and it checks out. You can read LA County's own data here. http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/locations.htm
The County has identified 204 "outbreak" locations.
Restaurants only account for 3.1%, and almost all are chains. McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, Jack in Box, Domino's etc https://twitter.com/justin_hart/status/1330714372587491329
Almost all of these chains have drive throughs and masses of corporate money. They will easily survive this shutdown. Who is going to pay the price? LOCAL restaurants who have played by the rules and who are NOT fueling the spread, according to the county's own data. Unacceptable
While restaurants have accounted for 3.1% of the known "outbreak" locations in L.A. County, without indoor/outdoor being specified, you know what has doubled them at 7.27%? Government locations! Including several L.A. County entities. Again, this is LA County's own data.
. @lapublichealth You (or your highly paid PR firms) have a responsibility to explain the data/science you are using to destroy the livelihoods of so many who have done possible everything to follow your constantly shifting rules and guidelines. Your own data doesn't justify this
Also, way too many people keep tagging/blaming Mayor Garcetti for these decisions. He has nothing to do with it. This is a COUNTY decision made by the L.A. County Department of Public Health and the Board of Supervisors. Garcetti only impacts city of LA policy. This is county.
NEW: L.A. County Supervisor Board Chair @kathrynbarger has released a statement saying she OPPOSES the @lapublichealth decision to restrict outdoor dining. She says the decision will devastate local businesses and will cause more people to go indoors where true spread is. @FOXLA
L.A. County Supervisor @SupJaniceHahn also not thrilled with the way this all came together. Wishes there was discussion during their public Board meeting rather than a simple tweet coming from the health department. https://twitter.com/SupJaniceHahn/status/1330715131685130240?s=20 @FOXLA
