The #MIBOC meeting is live. You can watch here: https://bit.ly/2KvFqsd  #AllEyesOnMI To the Board of State Canvasssers, we say: #DoYourJob
Chris Thomas is the first person to speak, he's the former director of elections.
Thomas is talking generally how the election in Detroit ran smoothly. #AllEyesOnMI
Norm Shinkle, a GOP BOC member is now speaking. He disputes Thomas' view of Detroit running smoothly. But he's also bought into Trump's lies about our election, so it's hard to take him seriously #AllEyesOnMI
Thomas is basically saying the BOC is not an investigative body. Not even the SOS can investigate. Allegations of fraud (they ones made this year are bogus) must be handled by law enforcement #MIBOC #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
Up next: Daniel Baxter, director of elections with the city of Detroit.
Again, here is the link to the @WeMakeMichigan livestream, which is streaming the #MIBOC meeting: https://bit.ly/3kYr0xx
Baxter lays out how poll workers were recruited, trained, and got shifted to ensure an accurate count happened in Detroit. #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
Baxter calls working on November 3, "perhaps one of the most exciting and engaging endeavors I've been a part of since working at the Department," who has been doing elections in the City of Detroit since 1985.
Baxter highlighted the resilience of poll workers at the TCF Center who persisted counting ballots despite intimidation and lack of social distancing from protesters who kept yelling "stop the count." #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
If Republicans wanted their people in the room while they counted ballots in Detroit, maybe they should have done their job and done some recruitment. #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
Former board member (and Republican) Jeff Timmer speaks next, telling the canvassers they need do #DoYourJob
Livonia Clerk Susan Nash (located in Wayne County) pleads with the board to certify the results even if an audit must be conducted. #AllEyesOnMI
Pittsfield Township Clerk Michelle Anzaldi: "We need to certify these results so we can begin the audit process." #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
Next up to bat: Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum. "It is the job of the 83 counties to certify the results, not the State Board." #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
Byrum: "A failure to certify these election results will send a message that democracy is dying in Michigan." #AllEyesOnMI
BYRUM KEEPS GOING OFF!!!!👩‍💻"We same some of the safest and most secure elections in the nations... The election is over. Do your jobs and certify it."
Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope, who went down to Georgia last week during their own audit: "The audit proved the results were accurate." In Michigan, the law is that the audit must be completed AFTER the election is certified. #AllEyesOnMI
On this livestream, Norm Shinkle is barely audible, but it's not like we want to hear what he is saying anyways. #AllEyesOnMI #DoYourJob
The #MIBOC is at recess. We'll pick up on the action when they resume. #AllEyesOnMI
The head of the @MIGOP is now speaking. We at a rodeo? Because there seems to be a lot of BS here. #AllEyesOnMI
