Ok Grammy predictions thread time ⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://twitter.com/YonceSource/status/1330934960606339076
Record of the Year: I feel like there are three clear front runners here; Blinding Lights, Savage Remix and The Box. Ultimately I think itll go to Blinding Lights, but Savage Remix seems to be the single song with the most nominations so its a close second
Album of the Year: Again, I feel like there's three clear frontrunners; After Hours, Future Nostalgia and Fetch the Boltcutters. My heart wants Future Nostalgia to take it home but it's unlikely. I reckon it'll be After Hours with Fetch the Boltcutters as a strong alternative.
Song of the Year: The Weeknd could nab the hatrick if the academy goes as hard for him as I think they might. This is between Adore You, Blinding Lights and Say So. I can see any of them nabbing the top spot (but for what it's worth, everything i wanted by Billie Eilish deserves)
Best New Artist: Megan Thee Stallion, Pheobe Bridgers, Doja Cat and Rina Sawayama are the clear top four here, but you're deluding yourself if you think anyone other than Megan is taking home the gold. Savage Remix has been nominated in FOUR separate categories.
Best Pop Solo Performance: This seems like a pretty even race. My money would be on either Doja, Harry or Dua, but this could also end up being the category in which the academy decides to acknowledge Folklore, meaning Cardigan is the dark horse here. Don't Start Now deserves.
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: Rain on Me has this on lock.
Best Pop Vocal Album: This is a little tricky. I think After Hours is the frontrunner - he wont win AOTY if he doesnt win this, and I can see him winning AOTY. The two dark horses are Future Nostalgia and Fine Line - we don't really know if Dua and Harry are Grammy darlings yet.
Best Rap Performance: This is Savage Remix's to lose. 1000%.
Best Melodic Rap Performance: This is a much closer race. Mac Miller's nomination is notable, while Savage Remix, The Box *and* The Highest in the Room all have multiple nominations across multiple categories, making their case strong. It's anyone's game, but Mac has the edge.
Best Rap Song: I think The Box and Savage Remix are the two biggest contenders here, but given the sheer amount of nominations Savage Remix has received (along with Megan's Suga and Best New Artist noms) I think it's safe to say the academy are fans of the Stallion and the Bee.
Best Rap Album: I reckon this is between Suga, Please Excuse for Being Antisocial and Circles. I can see Mac taking this award posthumously - Suga has been dwarfed already by Megan's Good News and I think the Box is more likely to take home an award than PEFBA.
Best R&B Song: I'll be shocked if H.E.R. doesn't take this - the message of I Can't Breathe is too strong for her not to, plus it's a beautiful song. The only people that could snub her are Chloe x Halle - Do It was a moment - but I can't see that happening.
Best Traditional R&B Performance: Come Thru by Summer Walker and Usher pose a genuine threat here, but I think this is between Chloe x Halle and H.E.R. (with Wonder What She Thinks of Me and Comfortable, respectively)
Best R&B Album: I honestly think this could be Kehlani's year. It's between her and Chloe x Halle in my mind, and I think Chloe x Halle might take home the next award instead so... It Was Good Until It Wasn't.
Best Progressive R&B Album: Chloe x Halle should win and Chloe x Halle will win. Unless they don't. But I think they will.
Best Music Film: Hamilton or Black Is King? It's a tricky question. And considering the Brown Skin Girl segment of Black Is King is already nominated for Best Music Video, we might find that the academy splits the vote and gives this one to Hamilton.
Best Music Video: Brown Skin Girl absolutely deserves this win - and its case is strengthened by the fact that Hamilton will probably win best music film (meaning that Brown Skin Girl winning this award will be the academy's way of awarding Black Is King too).
end of thread I guess
