The State Board of Canvassers has one job to do today: Certify the November 3, 2020 General Election results. All 83 County Boards of Canvassers have certified and submitted their election results to the State for their certification. The duties of the State Board of Canvassers
are ministerial and mandatory under Michigan Election Law. They must vote to certify this election.
As Ingham County Clerk and the County’s Chief Election Administrator, it is my duty to stand up for the 145,569 voters who voted in Ingham County and
the over 5.5 million Michiganders who cast their votes in the election, earlier this month. Doing anything other than certifying the election would be tantamount to the wholesale disenfranchisement of millions of voters across the state.
The time for political games is over. The eyes of the nation are on the Michigan State Board of Canvassers today; they are watching and waiting. A failure to certify these election results will signal to the country that democracy is dying in Michigan.
Organizations and responsible individuals from everywhere on the political spectrum agree: the Board of Canvassers must certify the Election. Today.
