THREAD!

My nephew, Maro bought a Honda Accord car for N900k Nov., 2019 & sold it N350k after 6 months of use.

He sold after changing the engine, gearbox, radiator & AC compressor; all to make it work but to no avail.

It was his first car & he was quite inexperienced about cars
Before you buy your first or next car, please consider these basic tips and RETWEET.

1) Budget: Top of your consideration in buying a car must be matching the cost of the car to your earnings.

It makes no sense buying a car above what you can conveniently afford.
2) Purpose: Why do you need the car? For Business or Private? If private, you may need to consider your dependants.

A man with a family of 6 would must certainly need a space bus than a sedan car.

3) Fuel Economy: For a medium income earners buying a car for the first time,
a 4 cylinder car will make more sense than a 6 cylinder car. The fuel consumption for 4 cylinder is lower.

4) Maintenance Cost: It’s advisable to go for a car with minimal repair cost.

Ensure the parts & technicians for your preferred car are readily available & affordable.
5) Road: If you are living in Ikorodu, you have no business buying a Ferrari or Porsche cars. You will definitely carry your car on your head one day 😂

Buy a car you can drive home without fear of being stuck on the mud or portholes on your Road.
6) Second Hand Value: Everyone wants to trade off their old car at a reasonable value.

Don’t be like Maro, buy a car you can resell when you are tired of it.

I bought a used 1999 Toyota Camry in 2013 for N670k. I sold the same car after 5 years for N650k. You understand now.
7) Test Drive: Don’t commit to making payment for a car without getting it inspected and test driven by an expert; preferably a mechanic.

Test drive and look out for the soundness of the engine, gearbox, suspension and the cooling systems.
