This hypothetical question poses an issue that squarely divides critical race theory thinkers indeed, civil rights activists in general. One camp, which we may call “idealists” holds that racism & discrimination are matters of thinking, mental categorization, attitude & discourse
Basically there are people who are separated from critical race theorists. Those people are people who think racism is just a mindset and if we get rid of it then everything is solved. In reality, racism is a system and making people non-racist doesn’t address the system.
To get rid of oppression is to address the system. The generational wealth, patriarchy, imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, media, education, gentrification, etc. The system itself must be destroyed because it will never grant us freedom because it’s white supremacy.
If you’re white, what you need to realize from this is that not being racist is not enough. What you should do is realize what the system is and do everything to assist the colonized, the marginalized and the oppressed. You are not your ancestors, but here’s a fact
Your circumstances are a product of your ancestors and do white people try to right the wrong of their ancestors that enslaved us? No, they do not. They play right into the system, they don’t stand with us arguing for reparations and perpetuate our oppression and exploitation.
Look at things currently. Look at breadtube, look at the “White Left” who have furthered marginalized us and again exploit black issues for monetary gain. Look at how they become an authority for us being paternalistic, being the white moderate.
