It is mainstream Democratic Party dogma that we will transform domestic and foreign policy around Great Power Competition with China, but do this without racism, without global violence, without destroying all prospects of global cooperation. This is a huge, dangerous fantasy

The great global challenges of the century include current and future pandemics, climate change, poverty, nuclear weapons, the rise of nationalism and authoritarianism. I remain convinced we can overcome them all, but under Great Power Competition these challenges become an abyss
