i want you to imagine a ten year old version of yourself sitting right in front of you. now this little person believes that theyโre too fat, or too skinny, too ugly and an embarrassment.
now tell that little person that theyโre fat. tell that little person that theyโre ugly. tell that little person that theyโre an embarrassment and worthless. you wonโt will you?
because thatโs what you tell yourself every single day. you convince yourself that youโre an embarrassment. a burden. you convince your mind that your ugly, you look at yourself in the mirror and pick out all your flaws.
but do you think that little person is ugly? do you think that little person is worthless? ugly? fat? too skinny? embarrassing? no.
what do you want to say to that little person? you would want to compliment them right? to hug them, to tell them that theyโre fine just the way they are. to stop being embarrassed of the way they look or behave, right?
thatโs what you need to tell yourself. everytime you feel that panic, that anxiety. you need to soothe yourself like you would soothe that little person. comfort yourself like you would comfort them.
now look at the mirror, and write down five things you love about yourself. embrace yourself, because itโs okay to not be okay. itโs okay to not be โperfectโ.
