The reason why western medicine is not keen to give up the privilege of surgery to Āyurvēda (which bloody invented surgery in the first place) is that the superiority of western science is based in a large part on the field of anatomy. Similarly, Indian astronomy (Jyōtisha) needs to digest the experimental knowledge from quantum physics in order to grow and be a suitable challenger to the western science of physics, which is bolstering the western calendar.

The task is not finished by replacing the calendar.

Very few people understand the hidden assumptions in sciences, stemming from culture or religion (like the Bible). They favor a specific type of scientific method, which then pretends to be universal and "secular", nothing to do with religion. :) So much for "universal" science.
