Beginning my series of cards this week to mark 80 years since the start of the Nazi blitz on Bristol. All of the foreground in this bustling scene would be gutted. Bridge St on the right was one of the major shopping streets. The medieval St Nicolas incorporated a town gate (1/2)
The church was replaced in the 1760s by this version, though the medieval crypt remains. The Rococo interior was burnt out. A modern roof and interior was put in place in the 1970s and the building housed archaeological finds but a couple of years ago it became a church again.
