How to work with an artist: D&D commissions and how to get what you want!

In this thread I wanna talk positively about how to communicate effectively with artists to get the best you can get out of them, and elevate your ideas!
Introducing yourself: Artists can be pretty laid back, but that doesn’t mean we’re mind readers! We wanna know all about your ideas, but please try and format them so we can follow along! Bullet points, and short concise descriptions!
Your ideas are cool, but let’s make them work on a page! It takes a lot of time to train yourself to be a visual communicator, just like a writer. Often ideas come from narrative tales, but visually they require changes to look good. A good narrative =\\= a good picture!
PRICES! Ok this is the one. Artists on the internet live all over the world, therefore prices are going to vary! If you have a budget, you are always better off being up front with that. “I have between X and Y budgeted” saves us that awkward standoff.
