My journey was inspired by @armanitalks

Armani’s content is powerful.

As a consumer his videos & tweets were inspirational to me.

To the point where one inspired me start creating through this account in Nov 2019.

I owe this dude.

But this was just the first push in growth.

1/ Buy a Guide

This was done the slow way.

I didn’t buy one initially – mistake.

But eventually I did after a DM exchange with my friend @edortiz where he recommended on from @joserosado.

E.D. had just reached 1000 himself & through kindness gave me belief I could too..

We all crave a following on some level – it’s human nature.

A sign of acceptance.

But my reason for starting & to keep going.

Was commitment to a creative outlet..

And the chance to actually help others down the road.

Cheesy, yes. But also true!

But with no following who was I tweeting to?

A bigger problem to solve as things moved on..

2/ Define Your Niche

I didn’t (& still don’t) have a clear niche.

One was needed.

But my experience and interests have variety.

This is one thing that slowed my growth.

It goes against the mainstream tips.

I am a career professional design engineer.

With sales, marketing & leadership experience. And..

A property landlord.
A fitness addict.
A stock market investor.
A self-developer.
A family man.

I found it difficult to focus on one definite niche.

3/ Focus on the Basics

If growth is your priority – this becomes vital.

A professional looking banner & bio is massive for your account.

It took me a while to take this seriously.

A basic website will also help that you can link in your bio.

4/ Build relationships in DMs

Approaching big accounts has been massive.

Value comment on their material.

Over time they’ll realise you’re genuine.

Rightly they’re cautious at first.

This wasn’t initially a strategy for me..

You may have noticed I didn’t really have one at all!

More about the powerful content they bring.

Helping my discipline to show up every day to read it, learn from it & engage with it.

Eventually you reach out to some of these.

And realise they’re genuinely amazing people behind their great accounts.

Quote Retweets from big accounts is a great way to get early exposure & build a solid foundation.

5/ Content is Genuinely King

Make it about creativity.
Make it about engaging content.

I’m no expert..

But I have learned this & have a lot more to learn.

This is your reason to show up every day.

Your reason to be disciplined.

Above all, you have to enjoy the process.

Running this account for me is like my own journey of self-development.

It’s the most worthwhile journey that has no destination.
