We'd like to give everyone an update about a situation that arose towards the end of last week, an issue that disproportionately affected independently published authors and meant their titles disappearing from http://Bookshop.org
http://Bookshop.org  launched three weeks ago, and we have learned a lot in this short time, particularly in terms of setting expectations for customers and ensuring that the service we provide is worthy of the independent bookshops we are helping to support.
A big concern is availability and delivery. As well as the usual challenges that we face as we approach the busiest time of the year, there are - this year - additional challenges faced by publishers, warehouses, delivery partners and bookshops in terms of delivery and tracking.
Last week, we removed titles with the aim of improving the customer experience, responding to issues book buyers have had when ordering these titles on the site, specifically around these challenges.
Unfortunately, a number of authors were adversely affected by the change - particularly independently published authors - and their titles disappeared from the site.
Firstly we'd like to apologies - sincerely - for any upset, anxiety and anger caused. We recognise this, and we have heard you loud and clear.

Also, we'd like to thank you for your patience whilst we have investigated exactly what happened.
It was *never* our intention to take off indie published authors from the site. The titles we chose to remove were where there were particular challenges with delivery, at this unique moment in time and challenges we all face approaching Christmas.
In attempting to address one problem, we inadvertently caused another: we inadvertently - and unintentionally - removed print-on-demand (POD) titles from our catalogue that *do* ship in a timely way from the site.
We recognise the mistake we made, and you can be sure that we are working hard on a solution to bring these titles back onto the site. We apologies once again (both to the authors affected and to customers let down by our actions).
We will keep you updated as to our progress in solving this issue, and we thank you again for your patience whilst we do so.
