Since the machines were also allegedly illegally networked (meaning the devices 'communicated' with each other), they all would've shut down at the same moment or close to it.
It's different than a similar set up for computer servers...
A server network is designed so that if one server goes down for any reason, other servers in same network (group) take on the load until the prob is resolved. Only a bigger outside problem would take them all out.

Think of the algorithm as a surge protector; if there's a power outage or surge, your devices plugged into surge protectors may shut down, but they're not 'fried'. You can turn them back on and continue.
