New: Conservatives can't stop tweeting about Parler, their new online safe space away from the reality of Trump's election loss. But if mainstream social networks are such censorship prisons, why can't they, y'know, stop tweeting? https://wapo.st/3lYUgFo  w/ @rachelerman
Parler attracted millions of users by promising no fact-checking or "editorial bullies trying to tell you what to think." But that hands-off approach has led to a strange mix of often-unsavory elements: Porn, racist garbage, conspiracy theories, Ted Cruz https://wapo.st/3lYUgFo
Lil scooplet in here: That recent semi-viral "verified" Parler post, in which 8kun's longtime admin @CodeMonkeyZ appeared to unmask Q? It was a hoax by @Kirtaner, who said Parler's security is a joke and he "did it for the lulz" https://wapo.st/3lYUgFo
Very few of the pro-Trump voices calling for a mass exodus to Parler have actually followed through. There are loyal converts, though, like @DevinNunes: He's exclusively on Parler, complaining about Facebook and grilling sausages https://wapo.st/3lYUgFo
But Parler isn't all right-wing senators and provocateurs. We talked to an Ohio woman who joined after Facebook told her a video she shared was historically bunk. She's been happily posting misinformation about voter fraud and covid cures ever since https://wapo.st/3lYUgFo
With that being said, I'm never tweeting again because of censorship. Follow me on Parler: https://parler.com/profile/DrewHarwell/
