so tired of this obsession with "fixing" people just so they can function in society... "well clearly we must cure them of their (insert mental health concern or disorder) otherwise they'll never work and live like us!"
so? the systems are fake and made-up...

like, obviously there are many people who can function in society once they receive the help they need, and that's good.
but it seems so weird to me that we make up these systems, and expect every single person to fit into it or else *they* are "broken" and need fixing??

ABA for autistic people is an example i've seen people talk about lately. "this person behaves oddly and isn't interested in the world we force them into, we will force them to behave normally so they can fit in!"
why? let them be... let them live.

i dunno, i'm angry, tired, and sad... but i guess my point is... no one asked to be here, not everyone is 'suited' to a made up world... let people live. help should enrich lives, not break and mould people into a specific shape for society's sake.
to be clear, i'm not saying mental illness should be untreated. some people *need* help for their own and others' well-being and safety.
i just want people to be happy, and not broken and beaten by life just because "that's how it is" when we made the rules ourselves...

maybe i'm particularly touchy on this subject... i survived abuse, trauma, chronic illness, and mental health challenges to get here... and so far? not worth it tbh.

i'm just mad... my survival only matters so that i can 'pay my dues', when society did fuck all for me. and if i died? *shrug* life goes on for everyone else...
