Yesterday, I got a call from a friend, she was upset.

I asked her what was wrong, and she said she was hungry.

I was like, "okay, go make some food..."

She started crying and said she doesn't have any, can I bring her some.

She hadn't eaten in 4 days.

Broke my heart.
This is just a microcosm of the macrocosm Trump's America has become.

I got her food, gave her money, helped her fill out for food stamps, and dropped off the paperwork.

When I got home I looked at Twitter and read some Tweets from our own legislators demanding debt relief.
Some of the tweets were days old, some were new, but none of them were talking about people like her-people who are literally starving.

They talked about people who owe $30,000 that they borrowed to get a degree, earn good wages, but don't want to pay.

Progressive priorities.
I'm more worried about women like her; she's Alaska Native, never finished high school, owes nothing in loans, unemployed now, but works as unskilled labor usually, buys food for her kid, but not for herself.

Liberal Priorities dictate that she must be helped immediately.
We aren't even paying our student loans right now, Biden can extend it out through the Pandemic.

I refuse to ignore the poor, create more entitlements for the middle class, and hope it trickles down to my friend by stimulating the economy.

Too many don't have anyone to call.
Maybe we need to start a charity. Maybe we need to make sure people can find help when they are hungry and desperate. Maybe all this focus on the privilege is a distraction from focusing on those in need.

I'll be checking on her more often now, and I'll be tuning the rest out.

I was so stressed out I came home and went to bed. Depressed me.

I have a friend at the Welfare office who works as a case manager, I'll ask him to route her to any services she qualifies for, and to keep an eye out so her case doesn't get overlooked. Shit is bad.
