What better way to mark #UKWindWeek than the #WindWorldCup? In each round, wind farms from across the country will go head to head in a Twitter poll, with the winner progressing to the next stage. The nation's favourite wind farm will be crowned on Friday! 🏆
First up in the #WindWorldCup... Pen y Cymoedd in South Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Its 76 turbines have a capacity of 228 megawatts, producing enough electricity to power 15% of Welsh homes. A 22 megawatt battery storage is also located at the wind farm. 🔋

... Kelburn Wind Farm, located 6km south-east of Largs in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Its 14 wind turbines have a capacity of 28 megawatts - generating enough clean electricity to power the equivalent to 21,000 homes every year. 🏡 #WindWorldCup

Whitelee Wind Farm, the UK's largest #onshorewind farm, located a few miles away from Glasgow. Its 215 turbines are capable of generating 539 megawatts of electricity, powering just under 350,000 homes.

... Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm. Scotland's largest #offshorewind farm located 13km from the Caithness coast. Beatrice's 84 turbines generate up to 588 megawatts of green electricity, enough to power up to 450,000 homes. #WindWorldCup
