ok here is the thread idc https://twitter.com/maddieasleep/status/1330762818153447424
starting off with a classic is my favourite novel ever written and my favourite love confession ever, it is not quite as good in movie form but definitely a great adaptation.
i am a bronte supremacist but i do also love my jane austen, and i wholeheartedly (and controversially) believe that the love confession in emma (2020) is superior to the infamous rain confession in pride & prejudice of 2005.
i tossed up between this and the reylo kiss scene from tros, but ultimately this scene was what made me a reylo in the first place. adam driver's voice, his acting - kylo's face reveal - the way they see each other's true selves ugh ugh ugh
there was a period when i was about 14 where i would watch cruel intentions almost everyday. this scene got me every. single. time. the music. his expression.
"i'm impressed"
"well i'm in love"
another tween obsession of mine was 10TIHAY. this scene, with heath's pained expression, julia stiles' trembling voice, and the poem that ripped my young heart out has to be on this thread
unconventional and debatably unromantic, but this scene in american pyscho always touched me. it's definitely explored more in the book, but jean and patrick's relationship really shows his conflict and moral side. also jean reminds me of me & i ❤️ chloe s
little women (2019) is probably the most flawless book to movie adaptation ever known to man; it keeps the original essence of the book but reworks it skillfully. this scene is completely perfect for so many reasons.
last but not least is not a movie, but i literally couldn't not include it. normal people is another one of my favourite book adaptations, and this scene captures so perfectly the awkwardness but beauty and tension of young love
