Cases and deaths are steeply rising. Hospitals are overrun and only getting worse.

So it makes sense that all week I've seen desperate pleas for folks to sit this Thanksgiving out.

Yet it's clear that many won't. Where is the harm reduction messaging? https://twitter.com/CarlosdelRio7/status/1330486823123095553
The tone that I keep seeing essentially paints anyone who does not stay home as inconsiderate, reckless and malicious.

This thread by @JuliaLMarcus has stuck with me: most people do not want to get sick or get others sick. https://twitter.com/JuliaLMarcus/status/1327305373016055810?s=20
It would be great if people stayed home. Ideal. But it seems to me that high impact messaging could strike an empathetic, non-disciplinary tone of harm reduction (smaller, ventilated, outdoors) from familiar sources in areas with increasing prevalence and lower adherence to NPIs.
The "friendbanking" strategy of Get Out the Vote comes to mind. Instead of asking 3 friends about their voting plan, could we text 3 friends about having a safer thanksgiving? Casual conversations with information that could help save lives. #epitwitter
