Thread may not be in flow ,wil try to put in facts .there are some allegations ,questions on our integrity, would like put some details if not all due to lack of time & strongly believe that we wouldn't like to allow some one to kick us like they did to rahul or kannada activisim
Like they did before , nothing else is important than the credibility of us , as kannada activisim already being slandered & looked down . we would like to leave a good name for kannada activisim for future ,when some one picks where we left.
We expected such allegations comming & it was in public domain already & we have written about it before this guys are pointing.trying to create a story out of it is just mischievous .
Let me introduce my self ,born & brought up in kundapur ,did my engineering in BVBCET , currently heading engineering team in a start http://up.got  into kannada activisim inspired by @bbprakaashana constructive activisim arnd linguistic rights & development
Let me not write about cci legal proceedings & cost incurred,time taken for appearing in courts in various cities,as it would take more time & lot of legal jargons to put in.but would thank @vikramhegde , anirudh other lawyers for advices & helping is in this journey in courts.
After @KannadaGrahaka won the legal case ,thought people would start dubbing .but none of them took a chance to dub in kannada fearing backslash from KFI . Then we started evangelism for dubbing in kannada by meeting production house in kannada some who r active now in dubbing
To start dubbing citing CCI ruling , but none in Gandhinagar had the courage . Next we started evangelism outside karnataka , in Chennai, hyderabad,mumbai based production house ,who would all give the same reason ,
they wouldn't want to take risk ,happy with releasing in original language as there is already big market in Karnataka.they consider kalyana , kittur Karnataka as hindi region . Kalyana, south Karnataka has telugu region , south Karnataka has tamil region.why to take risk ?
Absolutely make sense about thier logic , other language industry has many "A" centers for thier films in karntaka than any other state & every word of thier disapproval & such humiliating words considering karnataka has A centers would hurt but motivate more to break this.
To one production house, I said sir 100% kannada speaking area like kundapur,haveri has a market for good movies if you dub.other person looked for a while ,checked & said sir we already have telugu market in that region & have released more than 5 telugu movies in year .
People can understand telugu , I said I don't understand telugu a bit & nearest telugu land is atleast 600 kms from kundapur.he shot back saying you may not , your people understand .never faced bigger humiliation or some one shattered my ego like this before.
Then started meeting Hollywood production house as we felt MNC are more bold and receptive to our demands.but everyone wanted a proto type ,reference , predictable , secure bussiness environment . I have office layout of universal studio etched in my brain.
We pursued them because , person heading india was quite bold & had taken on Bengali film industry of anti dubbing cartels.a nice gentlemen treated us very affectionately for all the struggles we were going through & appreciated passionate, madness of ours to get dubbing.
Replies from production houses ,most of th times made me broken , had no hopes on getting dubbing into reality. Ramesh who travelled more than us put together, is one hopeless optimisatic person some one can come across.when v r out of these production offices,i would be negative
Ramesh would say "Agathe ri, ivrigae bera darina illa" . Hope is something he has in abundance & never empties in case of ramesh.he has masters in engg from abroad , settled in France inspired by @bbprakaashana came back to Karnataka working behind the scenes on kannada issues.
When we met production houses , we also advocated corporate funding and opportunities in kannada film industry. Our loyality is to kannada , kannadigas & thier welfare even we were fighting against them in court.
One thing we observed is , even we were discussing dubbing opportunities & CCI ruling .most of them , considered us an activist & not from industry realm & wanted to avoid or not go with our assesment on opportunities , security for thier movies.we got aware of this .
While all this we were doing in parallel , Krishna Murthy producer in KFI supported dubbing & was vocal in industry circles & advocated in Gandhinagar meetings.resultbod it was debarred & mostly his membership was taken away / suspended if my memory hasn't failed .
He decided to make a movie small budget kind of prototype movie to understand the market,built dubbing infrastructure & ease of release ,funded by few pro kannada activist sure that, it will not make money .movie got released in few theatre & made some impact in Gandhinagar
Dubbing industry to become main stream ,there was necessity to onboard few support system.dubbing artist to dub,dubbing studio,news paper , news media , radio station to promote , distributors, writers,directors,editors , technicians , VFX , posters, advertisement & others
Once this system is in place , any one could use the system required for dubbing. Those days nothing was innplace , artist didn't want to associate with dubbing projects as it would risk other working avenues for them.
Missed one important stakeholder/support system , dubbing movies & serials shown in television & cable tv, premier shows , press conference , audio launch. For this system to be built , dubbing to become main stream, Harivu creations was born.
@hari_holla @kodlady @shashiseetharam @hari_holla, joshi, naveen & others crowd sourced & built Harivu creations.we needed rights of latest movie , but none of the producers were willing to give out the rights fearing thier next release might get affected in Karnataka.
& fear of Gandhinagar anti dubbing group.Couple of travels was done to Chennai, Hydbad,mumbai finally ended up with Tamil movie SatyaDev. Some of us considered not to do tamil film to start with considering constant political issues & can be used against us by anti dubbing group
Ganesh put this word across,take the toughest exam first , if tamil clears then we clear all.We didn't have much choices either , started satyadev ips , now most of artist didn't want to work on this project , as I said before,We had to pay above industry standard to onboard them
Most of artist were unwilling to put thier names on title card & some names r dropped or name changed in title card .such was condition then & fear of KFI cartels.had to run in total secret, kind of underground operation.ever greatfull to @GKRISHNAMURTH16
For executing dubbing movies, as we all from Harivu creations never seen even projection room inside a theater .he did all the execution for us,without him we wouldn't have dubbing as main stream & he set a benchmark for dubbing quality in initial stage.
Now after all production , we had to get name for the film, title registration had to be done , that lies with KFI,which wouldn't give us , though it is no legal. We went ahead but for censor , we need to have poster clearance from film industry body , KFI wouldn't give us .
We hit a roadblock , that's when we went to Chennai to register ourselves with south guild paying 50,000. which would gives us poster clearance to go ahead for http://censor.so  many travels to Chennai . Big shout to adavi joshi @JMovies2019 for all the efforts.
Now that we have poster clearance , we have to go for censor , now there is no system in place for censor of dubbing movies for kannada in Chennai .there was no censor members, who could understand kannada and clear the movie .
Again after lot of follow ups and traversing through beauracracy , we were able to get censor after a long delay .till few films more things didn't better , struggle was same but we knew the way to get through.
Once censored , we had to work on distribution , before that we need to upload to CUBE/UFO for enabling theaters to download the movie and http://exhibit.as  we were new we had to run through this by our own,let me not get into details .
Now the distribution , we got hold of some theater's, begged to exhibit the movie.some agreed , some cancelled last minute , some people out rightly rejected to exhibit the movie.
Once theaters were finalised we wanted to put an advertisement on TV channels, Newspaper , Radio station , social media influencer. None of them agreed , fearing KFI cartels , we offered higher price still they were reluctant .finally udayavani agreed to advertise the shows .
Getting udayavani to advertise was big achievement.udayavani is seen by movie goers & theater owners ,film industry to know the films , especially the Friday edition.they are market leader in this http://domain.it  helped us to evangelise dubbing story in mumbai
See we have put on news paper,biggest support system onboarded .with all this success most of support system for release didn't get onboard fearing Kannada film industry cartels.this was a setback for us ,but every inch gained was a victory for us.
though we were new, none to support us , we learnt by ourselves ,put some process ,organised ourseleves better ,managed with all limited resources available. One intresting thing happened was we didnt release for 2k theater as we were not confident of getting good theaters.
Suddenly Bijapur theater if i remember agreed to exhibit , that's it ramesh flew to Chennai the same day , got it done for 2k sitting whole night & we were ready next day.we wanted to reach 2k because it has huge importance attached to it.let me explain
Most Hollywood movies are released in 2k theater only , if we want to get Hollywood movies dubbed , we need to onboard 2k theaters ,there is no other option .2k theater is expensive & rentals for projection are very high compared to non 2k.karnataka has very limited 2k theaters
Most of them were multiplexes , who were not willing to exhibit till syra released . they said they will not release old dubbed movies ,so to on board this 2k theater we put in extra efforts , expenses to go for 2k with all resources limitation, busy schedule even it didn't
Make any business sense , as we were sure we would make more loses.but to get Hollywood movies dubbed we had to http://do.my  assumption , with dubbing mainstream , 2k theaters in Karnataka would increase across tier 3 centers as well.possitive externality of dubbing.
With release date all set

started making noises ,threatning to burn down theaters if dubbing film was released .there was some anxiety but we were confident we would pull through . At times I feel we took them bit lightly but resources on dispense was limited
On D Day , @Jaggesh2 & his goons disrupted the show in hubli , removing kannada dubbed posters & showing telugu film.heights of hypocris suddenly most of the theaters pulled off.some of us had to rush to theaters across Karnataka to continue exhibiting the film .
We had to seek protection from police .had film exhibited in police protection ,van standing outside theater .after this incident ,our dream to get dubbing mainstream collapsed. we didn't loose hope , our motivation was high , we wouldn't bow down at any cost,regrouped
Released in small theaters in rural areas by speaking,convincing them. @karave_KRV @narayanagowdru needs a special mention for backing us else dubbing activist might have been hacked to death or beaten definitely .not exaggerating , kind of enemies
We have made in this journey ,hurt thier ego ,humiliated them by going against thier dikats. @narayanagowdru stood rock solid with us.though he was very close to KFI & fought some of thier battles by leading from front. ever greatfull to him on this .in mumbai , Gandhinagar
Guys from KFI had pushed message that @narayanagowdru is against dubbing & production houses feared that @karave_KRV might stop releases . Got gowdru do a video message & published to all production houses that he supported dubbing. Without him we wouldn't reached to this stage.
Slowly we had increased theater count to arnd 50 I guess , had published this number to production house on acceptablity of dubbing by theater but initial disruption caused some anxiety & doubt with production house as we hadn't released in Bengaluru & most of south Karnataka
We had made huge loses in tens of lakhs ,some satisfaction was that we gained some ground.inorder to make dubbed movie release smooth in future ,we put defamation case against @Jaggesh2 in CCI .after that he has mellow down a lot,left out by his KFI cartels to defend on his own.
We presented this as a sucess to production houses in mumbai,chennai but not releasing in Bengaluru & hubli Padma theater incident caused a bit set back . So we thought of making another movie & releasing it in Bengaluru , again not many would give us rights of latest movies
Old movies as well.finally ended up with dheera an action film , coincidence it was ajit again.had to go through same struggle of releasing bottlenecks but we were better prepared . passionate Adavi joshi had quit his job as a VP & was overlooking operations,some relief for us.
Aim was to release in Bengaluru , none of the theaters agreed.last one theater agreed on rent basis
We had to pay full amount for a week .so we had kokilla in banshankari to exhibit dheera .we had prepared well this time had asked for police protection in advance
@karave_KRV team led by @SanneerappaK visited theater in morning & we took turns gaurding theater for a week .we invited friends & family to watch the movies ,some noble souls @girishkargadde @nanuramu sponsored few tickets , we distributed to people nearby,so that there is crowd
To make statment to world that everything is well & dubbing movie ran for 2nd week,we took rent for 2nd week,released Satya Dev ips as well ,stalled earlier by http://jaggesh.by  now we had established enough confidence & relationship with biggest exhibitors association
led by odugowdru ex MP, one noble soul karanth , secreatry in the associau ,owner of theater would help us in all possible ways, for the passion we had to get dubbing mainstream.They would not believe we were software engineers & couldn't understand our madness.
Once sony was doing some ground study for release of dubbed content, they asked for support from theaters , called oodugowdeu for help .they gave the letter without any questions.thier association has around 470 plus theater,they doesn't listen to dikats of Gandhinagar.
Now that dheera release ended , we had made 100% looses on the investment but with dheera we made a big impact across production houses & that was satisfying .still we had to onboard many support system & release in Gandhinagar ,mecca of kannada film industry.
We had flaw in our business model, our activisim took precedence over revenues.Cause was greater than profit.we always made decesion preference to our cause than profitability ,so we made huge looses but all were happy ,that's what cause makes you ,money being the least priority
With dheera success we started reaching out to production houses & channels.most of channels would be surprised by our efforts & would ask on studio quality & security. Most of the time we would say we have virtual studio :) .These channels have requirements of best technology
& proper security measures for safeguarding thier content .none of the Bengaluru studio matched it.thats when the idea of studio came.some times I feel we were as ambitious as late Shankar nag ,as if there is no end to our dreams.we wanted to dub Malgudi days, shankar nags 👑 j
We traced that producer has given rights to hirachand , we had multiple visit to hirachand off in mumbai , meeting him while dropping to airport in Bengaluru .he quoted a very high price , we still went ahead to buy the rights
as we felt channels wouldn't resist broadcasting it , Considering Shankar nag & Malgudi brand.all channel we spoke kept us on wait for long time. Many stories to tell & to cut it short it didn't go through. lucky we were as rights wasnt with him , we would have been fooled.
After a year or so @ratheeshaBR accidentally got Malgudi day rights owner & dubbed it . Long story for another day ,how he got it done .god was with us for all the rightful things we had done .some how we missed being fooled .
Meanwhile roaming around mumbai streets , knocking doors of channels we got to meet sony YAY product head , they just had made a decision to dub in other languages barring kannada instead choose malayalam.reason narrative of dubbing ban built over years
We tried convincing & they were convinced as well , but due to some technical issues another lang couldn't be added . We were selling kannada as a blue ocean for businesses opportunities , sony person lead us to star sports.we connected almost all production house through
network of people ,who empathized our fight for dubbing or we built connection through LinkedIn .zee5 we had reached through LinkedIn .we had no connection when we started but our efforts made us to build a strong http://network.star  sport engagement changed us a lot .....
we had met almost diverse domain channels from infotainment, cartoon,kids, lifestyle, OTT platform, movies, food, devotional, travel ..etc. by now we had assessed the understanding of people sitting in Mumbai about Karnataka demography was wrong.
one gentleman said many in Karnataka understand Hindi/English. North Karnataka is Hindi market, everyone knows Hindi. Andhra border population knows Telugu, Kolar/chamrajnagar/Mysore /.. in south Karnataka knows Tamil. basically what left out was my place coastal karnataka :)
