Since we all saw considerable hue & cry, as Sami Aslam left for 'greener pastures' (nothing wrong with that), I actually sat down & ran his numbers for the last three years with proper context to judge whether an actual injustice was done, or was Sami crying foul for no reason~
The scatter plot above gives a snapshot on his overall performance across 38 innings in the last 3 seasons of FC cricket. Out of these 38 innings he's had notable performances in only FOUR instances while 78 percent of his overall contributions with the bat have been of scores~
of less than 50 runs. 78 percent is very large number and implies that 4 out of every 5 innings he plays, Sami scores less than 50 runs based on his current stats.

The inflated average that one sees for Sami is due to his 2 scores of 150 runs each in 2019 season along~
with a double century in the opening game. Apart from these aberrations, Sami doesn't really notch any great consistency with the bat. Furthermore, his current form clearly doesn't even remotely warrant any outside look in the National team setup. Across the last 11 innings Sami~
is having an RPI of 15.XX, which for a top order batsmen, in the restructured domestic circuit just isn't good enough. Impact wise Sami too has been lackluster. In every game he's somehow scored runs, there are other batsmen as well who's ensured to take full advantage of the~
conditions which means that his top scores came under circumstances and conditions which were tipped in favor of batting. I tabulated every single instance Sami batting in FC cricket over the course of the last 3 years and his raw scores were as follows:
If one looks closely at these scores, it can be clearly seen that every time he's notched a decent outing there are other batsmen in the same match who's some how managed to compete with him blow for blow so the significance of the innings slightly reduces as it implies easier~
batting conditions.

I have nothing against Sami Aslam, I wish him all the best since it's every person's right to look for better living however, my problem is him lambasting selection criteria while scoring 15 runs per innings for nearly a year now in FC.

The opening position~
is fundamentally volatile in Pakistan cricket and had he put his head down and worked harder than what his numbers suggest, he would have made it into the squad eventually

Case in point, Fakhar Zaman was touted as being someone who would've solved our opening woes, his position~
right now is dangling and anyone who is gunning for that opening slot in the FC would almost always get a look into the national setup.

I don't know who is advising Sami about these matters, but whoever it is has no God damn clue on how Pakistan cricket works.
