As a lot of others have pointed out, jazz doesn't need "saving." That said, I think its a bit of a shame that people are getting bent out of shape about this thread. I don't think harm was intended. Maybe a bit poorly worded, but I generally agree that VGM plays a huge role in keeping public interest in jazz alive.
The average person couldn't tell you who Kamasi Washington or Esperanza Spalding are. But they know & love jazzy Mario tunes and Cuphead's big band soundtrack. A lot of VGM has helped keep new generations interested in jazz, and provides a 'gateway' into the modern jazz scene.
